Self Portrait

Hey guys!

so... I decided this year to partake in national self portrait day... it was a challenge, in a good way.

I used a mirror and spent like 3 hours on it.

 For most of the painting I did not have my glasses on, so I think it came out way more blurry looking oops :x 

    

all in all, it was a good learning experience and I hope each of you guys try doing one.

Traditional Speed Painting

Hello, guys!
Lately, I've been doing some quick traditional paintings to exercise my visual memory.
I have to say it's a pretty good way to do studies and to relieve some stress.
For these types of paintings I only allow myself an hour or two per painting without using references.
Satisfied or not, I can't touch or rework them after that.
This sort of process helps me by allowing me to make my mind up faster, focusing on the over all read of the piece, and not to get caught up in unimportant details. And, also, most importantly, to use my imagination~!

Oh, yes, and for painting this way I much prefer acrylics 'cause they dry super fast.

a simple tip

I've been under the weather lately, so, I'm sorry I haven't posted in awhile you guys. but I am making my recovery, so I shall be updating more frequently now.

When I am sick I tend to run into problems regarding drawing and painting, like forgetting how I do things or just have a art block, so what I remember from some art advice video was to draw and keep drawing. 

don't know what to study? pick something random and study it. that simple. Just don't stop drawing and trying to learn 'cause the longer you stop the worse off you'll become and the more stuck you will be inturn. but if you continue to draw and study you'll get over your art block and things you forgot how to do will come rushing back to you. 

so you guys if y'all are stuck with art (drawing/painting etc.) don't give up just draw everything, and anything. 

don't despair- inspiration and ideas will come to you if you work hard never give up! :)

things I miss + update

Hello you guys~! hows it going?

So today was meh and yeah, started think about things I used to really enjoy and miss doing.

Like I miss painting in acrylics; I miss the feel of a brush roughly dragging on the uneven canvas surface and having to wait for the paint to dry to see how much the color changes (for some reason acrylics seem to dry a lot darker than when its first applied :x ) and also ruining my favorite clothes looking like an artsy douche with paint all on my clothes lol.

and I miss playing guitar and piano its been ages I think I forgot everything I used to know how to play. lol I dunno why I have done those things in a long time and I kinnda miss it :/ I think I'm gonna take some time to finish the paintings that are gathering dust in my closet. I would like to show you guys some of my traditional stuff anyways, I think it'd be nice.
